What Happens AFTER You Bare It All?

Almost a month ago, Broadway Bares celebrated its 25th Anniversary. The event conceived by MFF Fairy Godfather Jerry Mitchell raised a record-shattering $1,598,501 to benefit Broadway Cares/Equity Fights AIDS. Mark Fisher Fitness has been the Fitness Sponsor of Bares since our birth, donating more than $125,000 over four years. This phenomenal effort is thanks to YOU – the Ninja community. You came to special fundraising events, supported our team Stripathon goals, and generally showed up #fullout – as Jerry would say. Thank you.

You gave your time. You gave your money. It felt good. Now what can you do to keep it going?

JOIN THE UPRISING!

This feeling of “Now what…?” is EXACTLY what prompted the creation of The Uprising! After seeing the way this community rallied around Bares, how do we keep the extraordinary generosity going? How do we show up big and serve our city? Every day. All year long.

The Uprising and Bares have a lot in common – besides needing YOU in order to be a sexy success. But they are also different – and you may want some #clarity. So I’m gonna break it down for you.

Here’s what Bares and The Uprising have in common.

  1. We GIVE A SHIT. We all want to help people and causes that do good work, so you know your dollars and hours make a difference where you live, work, and play.
  2. We make a big impact by giving TOGETHER. When you have hundreds of people giving, gifts of $10 and $25 add up fast!
  3. We CELEBRATE every member of the community. There is no act of service too small! We are about rallying together in all of our majesty to make magic together. While every volunteer experience might not end in a confetti bomb, we know that there is nothing sexier than service, and nothing more joyful than generosity.

And here is why we hope that you participate in BOTH.

Bares is a once a year day.

The Uprising is about what happens the other 525,600 minutes of the year.

Bares is like Snatched: an intense, powerful, transformative blast. It’s a super-charged dose of full-out force that culminates in a recognizable climax after a set time. (pun definitely intended)

The Uprising is what you do the rest of the year to keep up your health and hotness. It’s a habit, a lifestyle, a dedication to paying the rent errrrday, amirite Brian Patrick Murphy? Your baseline fitness level really goes up from the accumulation of small steps every day: nailing your nutrition, picking up heavy shit in the Lair, and sweating sweetly in Classes. #progress

We want to take your generosity to the next level. Let’s flex those compassion muscles ALL YEAR LONG so that when it’s time to give big – to Bares, to a friend battling an unexpected illness, to a personal cause, to the new animal shelter in your neighborhood – you are ready to kick some major world-improving ass. We can’t all go from zero to hero in no time flat. The best way to set yourself up for a performance worthy of fierce back-up singers and dancers is to practice, practice, practice. And the best incentive to keep practicing is to see some results, which is what you get when you give, volunteer, and serve with The Uprising.

The world needs you to start today, to keep going tomorrow, and to GIVE 1% BETTER all year long. Here are a couple of ways you can get started – right now.

We can’t promise you that you’ll get back-up dancers (with or without rhinestoned g-strings) – but we can promise you that when you measure your life in love, you will like what you see.
