Emily’s MFF Story of Glory

I grew up dancing so I always had some form of activity, but after I moved to New York and decided to try another path, I stopped moving my body on the regular. I had never worked out, so the concept was pretty foreign and I wasn’t sure what to do or how to do it. So I didn’t do anything.

I started at MFF back in 2013 after hearing lots of friends talking about this weird place where they felt comfortable with their discomfort of gyms. And then I read Brian Bogin’s testimonial and immediately signed up for classes.

Obviously the sense of community was paramount, but the lack of judgement and the love from the staff, trainers, and Ninjas was also a huge factor for me.

Over the years I’ve ebbed and flowed (ringing up that credit card bill is no joke!) but the fact that I can walk in the door, take my own version of whatever class is being offered, and have trainers who are willing to work with me on my specific issues has changed everything.

Just showing up was a challenge for me before finding MFF, but now I love to start my day at the gym. I recently realized through doing Snatched II that moderate workouts 4-6 times per week don’t work for me as well as high intensity workouts 3 times per week. So I’m starting to explore that.

The fact that I now love working out and look forward to waking up to get to the gym has been a huge shift for me.

As I said, I’m rediscovering what is best for MY body. And right now that seems to be fewer, more intense workouts with more time for my body to recover.
