“I’ve learned, for myself this time instead of just from people telling me, that by focusing all my good energy and attention on one thing in my life it brings clarity to so many other aspects.” - Ninja Leigh

On our last day of class for name game we were asked, “What did you learn from Snatched?” There it was, the major question, and with no time to prepare. No time to dig deep into my soul and let it speak for me… no time to formulate an eloquent, if not entirely truthful, answer you think people want to hear.

Ahh, it was my turn… and…and…my body answered for me, “I’ve learned, for myself this time instead of just from people telling me, that by focusing all my good energy and attention on one thing in my life it brings clarity to so many other aspects.” BOOM!

I joined Snatched on the recommendation of a few friends who had just gone through the program and couldn’t say enough good things about it. I had just gotten off a long tour as a swing (i.e. sitting in the dressing room most of the time while my cast kills it onstage), I had a free summer and I didn’t really have a plan for getting myself back in shape. Why not take some time, focus on my body and have fun with these crazy people I’d heard so much about. I also roped my husband into joining too, because if I was going to go crazy counting calories and swinging kettlebells for six weeks he might as well know why.

I started this journey just to tone up and focus on fitness but Snatched has given me so many other gifts. The gift of community. The gift of not over-thinking! The gift of staring at myself in the mirror half naked and not have the immediate urge to suck-in. Most importantly, the gift of time with my husband! Cooking, working out, laughing, planning meals, cursing at MFP, morning coffee before 9am class, bear crawling, grocery shopping… we got to do all of this together. We both joined Snatched for very individual reasons but it has strengthened our relationship in a way neither of us saw possible. When you take time to work on yourself first then you have more to give to everyone around you!

Fitness had just been a byproduct of my passion for dance; now I own it! Never again will anything in my life just be a byproduct because the knowledge learned here will never go away!

Thank you to all the MFF team but especially our 9am crew, you know who you are! xo
