Before Snatched, I didn’t pay that much attention to my diet. I’m the guy who would pile on loads of peanut butter to a slice of bread. After eating that, I’d follow it up with a massive spoonful of more peanut butter! Let’s not forget about eating a whole frozen pizza in one sitting and chasing that down with an entire stick of cookie dough. That’s who I was, a 39 year-old man with the diet of a 15 year-old teenager. I was addicted to gummy fruit candies, guzzling a coke here and there and eating once or twice a day.
I decided to get Snatched for my 40th birthday. It was one of the best decisions I ever made in my life.
The MFF team gave me the tools and community I needed to finally understand nutrition and portion control. I had no idea how many calories were in the globs of peanut butter I was eating! Who the hell knew, a little smear was a serving size?!? Better yet, who knew that slight smudge would satisfy my manly hunger and 15 year-old taste buds? Guess what, it did!!! Well, we can’t forget about all the other delicious Snatched-friendly foods I was eating at the same time. I’m still in shock at how a lettuce leaf can serve as a tortilla shell and Greek yogurt tastes just like sour cream, WHAT?!?
The MFF team taught me about nutrition, calorie control… protein, carbs and fats. The amazing community of Snatchies shared so many recipes, secrets to success and love via the online community. I never felt alone and always got the information I needed from other people in the program. There were so many recipes and pictures of meals you couldn’t help cook some of them up! I also have to give a shout out to my amazing boyfriend, he cooked up Snatched-friendly meals that made my mouth water like never before!!!!!! Yum, yum, yum!!!!!
Now, I have to talk about my absolute favorite part… the instructors and classmates. I don’t know where the instructors come from, but they are a hodge podge of all my favorite things! They create such a welcoming environment that ANYONE can feel at home! They are all truly unique and add their own spin to fitness. Between the potty-mouths, costumes, bear crawls (ooooooh yaaaaaa!)… I was sweating, smiling and laughing like never before!!!!!! It’s the perfect mixture of kettlebell swings, burpees and bent over rows you’ll ever find. Trust me, I’m a runner (I’ve run marathons), I’ve not sweat like this in years. At the end of a class you have been worked!!!! Steph, Michael and Geoff will never know how much they really mean to me.
My class – no words describe the connection this group made over the six weeks. We came in as strangers and left as friends. I’ll never forget all of us holding hands as we laid on our mats cooling down at the end of week five. We sweat, we screamed and we sang! I’ll never forget Alan and I giving goofy looks at each other during Spiderman lunges, staring at Matthew’s ass for 18 classes and Barbara predicting my future in week two (she was 100% accurate). The magic I felt in that room changed me inside and out.
After Snatched, I’ve lost 16 lbs. and 3.5 inches from my waist. However, I’ve gained so much more in life. I’m a 40 year-old man who knows the importance of self-care. I now stand in supermarket aisles monitoring calories and FINALLY understand portion control. I make better decisions about my health. I’ve also learned, I’m allergic to peanut butter and feel so much better without it in my diet (15 year-old sheds a tear). Oh, and one other thing that’s quite important to bring up, if you throw a group of 15 people in a room with disco balls, unicorns and all the pop music you’ve ever loved… you better get ready to see some sexy hot bodies in six weeks.
