The sexy MFF Newsletter feature that answers the question: “Hey Mark, read any good books lately?”
One of my favorite books I read recently was Simon Sinek’s Leaders Eat Last. This book takes a look at how leadership and groups succeed or fail. In an interesting and geeky twist, Sinek addresses how our drive for dopamine can become destructive if left unchecked.
Great work environments can be constructed by bringing out our biological drive for cooperation. The work of the leader is not about telling people what to do, so much as it is creating a circle of safety for those in the organization to do their work.
(And if you missed Sinek’s Start With Why, I’d recommend picking that one up too!)
